Qiandaohu

The Qiandaohu (Thousand Islands River) is an interesting location. In the late 50s, the city of Hangzhou needed a new power source. So, they chose an area ~87 Miles (~140 KM) away and built a dam, in the process flooding out over a thousand villages. These “islands” you see are actually the peaks of former mountains, and the history behind the location is few and far between.
